The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) reported a decrease in the Business Confidence Index for May, with a reading of 107.8 compared to 108.9 in April and 114.7 in March. SACCI highlighted that the trajectory of business confidence moving forward will be heavily influenced by the composition of the new government, following the African National Congress (ANC) losing its parliamentary majority for the first time since assuming leadership at the conclusion of apartheid three decades ago.
