TAP Air Portugal will be adding its 12th route to Brazil with the launch of services to Florianópolis in the southern region of the South American country.

Beginning on September 3rd, the Portuguese airline will operate three weekly flights from Lisbon to Florianópolis on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The route will be serviced by Airbus A330-200 aircraft, offering 244 economy seats and 25 business class seats.

Luís Rodrigues, CEO of TAP, stated that the decision to add Florianópolis to their route network had been under consideration for some time, with the closure of Porto Alegre airport due to severe storm damage in May further solidifying the need for the new route. Rodrigues emphasized TAP’s commitment to investing in expanding their services to Brazil, their largest market, in order to become the preferred European airline for Brazilian customers.

The addition of Florianópolis brings TAP’s total number of Brazilian cities served to 12, with a total of 14 routes operating from Lisbon and Porto. Other destinations in Brazil that TAP serves include São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Recife, and Salvador.
