John Steenhuisen: The DA Leader Navigating South Africa’s Political Landscape

"I sort of got caught up working and trying to balance getting married, working full-time, and starting a family," Steenhuisen admitted in a recent interview with Semafor Africa. "I just didn’t finish, and it’s one of the big regrets I have in life. I intend to go back and finish." His decision to leave university has frequently been used by his detractors to question his knowledge and capability.
Combating Criticism and Managing Perceptions
Steenhuisen is not new to criticism beyond his academic shortfall. Opponents argue that he is short-tempered and may struggle to operate within a coalition cabinet, which would require a significant amount of persuasion and debate.
