BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. The recent convening of the CIS Economic Council in Moscow has emerged as a pivotal forum for comprehensive discussions on enhancing economic collaboration among CIS member states, as reported by Trend.

Azerbaijan’s delegation was led by First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, a member of the CIS Economic Council. The event served as a platform for high-level representatives to exchange insights and perspectives on pressing issues related to economic cooperation within the CIS region.

The meeting was presided over by Alexei Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. Other notable attendees included Igor Petrishenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus and co-chairman of the CIS Economic Council, and Hokim Kholikzoda, First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan. Their presence underscored the significance of the council as a vital mechanism for fostering regional economic integration and policy harmonization.

During the forum, participants were briefed on the primary macroeconomic indicators pertinent to the economic trajectories of CIS countries for the year 2023. A notable outcome of the discussions was the decision to revise the strategy for developing the interstate system of personnel training. This system, which encompasses professional and advanced training in scientific and technical information, was initially established by a resolution from the CIS Council of Heads of Government on November 20, 2013. The proposed amendments aim to align the personnel training framework with the evolving economic and scientific landscape.

Looking ahead, the CIS Economic Council has scheduled its subsequent meeting for September 20, 2024, again in Moscow. This forthcoming session will provide an additional opportunity for member states to evaluate progress, address emerging challenges, and refine their collaborative efforts.
