In a televised address on Saturday, Iranian political figure, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, extolled on the significant actions taken by the late President Rais in conjunction with the Parliament, to divert the development course of Iran back onto its suitable trajectory.
Ghalibaf broached the subject of the nation’s budget deficit, acknowledging it as one of the salient obstacles currently faced. Fostering introspection, he queried whether the deficit necessarily implied absence of wealth or assets to the nation. His rebuttal was a categorical ‘no’, citing Iran’s possession of 19.5 percent of global oil reserves as an exemplification of the nation’s wealth.
He proceeded to elaborate on the regional divisions of the stated 19.5 percent cut, with 66 percent attributed to gas reserves, and the remaining 34 percent comprising crude oil. Beyond the oil and gas reserves, he drew attention to other significant resources such as mines, as well as the strategic geographical positioning of Iran, suggesting that these endow unique and lucrative opportunities for the nation’s foreign exchange earnings.
The veteran politician emphasized that Iran had managed to navigate through a critical juncture and transition from a state of stasis to heightened dynamism. It was a testament, he implied, to the resolute spirit of the Iranian nation, against attempts by adversaries to undermine them.
He advocated for the need for robust management across economic, political, and cultural dimensions, in turn endorsing the engagement of the youth in steering the nation’s affairs.
Ghalibaf, possibly a candidate for the contested 14th term of the Iranian Presidential election, wished to underline to the public that the nation finds itself at a critical precipice in its history. Their decision-making prowess in this juncture, he suggested, will largely determine the trajectory of the nation’s economic development and the eventual prosperity that future generations stand to inherit.
