Ethiopian Airlines, a prominent player in African aviation, has once again been recognized as the best African Airlines of 2024 by SkyTrax Awards. This marks the seventh consecutive win for the airline, underscoring its continued excellence in the industry. The awards ceremony took place at London Fermont Windsor Park, further solidifying Ethiopian Airlines’ status as a leader in the field.

In addition to being named the best African Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines also received accolades in three other categories: Best Business Class in Africa, Best Economic Class in Africa, and Best Economic Class Onboard Catering in Africa. These distinctions highlight the airline’s commitment to providing exceptional service across different classes and aspects of the flying experience.

Mesfin Tasew, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, expressed pride in the recognition, stating that the airline’s dedication to customer-centric innovation has been instrumental in its success. By consistently integrating cutting-edge technology and prioritizing passenger experience, Ethiopian Airlines has maintained its position at the forefront of the aviation industry.

Among other African airlines, Royal Air Maroc, South African Airways, Kenyan Airways, and RwandAir secured the 2nd to 5th positions in Africa, following Ethiopian Airlines’ lead. It is noteworthy that Ethiopian Airlines ranked 36th globally, slightly lower than its previous position, while Royal Air Maroc occupied the 55th spot on the continent.

On the global stage, Qatar Airways reclaimed the title of the world’s best airline for the 8th time in 25 years, regaining the position from Singapore Airlines, which held the title last year. Emirates, ANA All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, and Japan Airlines also secured top positions, showcasing the fierce competition and excellence in the international airline industry.

These awards not only recognize the outstanding performance of Ethiopian Airlines but also shed light on the dynamic landscape of global aviation, with historical shifts in leadership positions and the ongoing pursuit of excellence by top airlines worldwide.
