A National firm or Institution has been selected to conduct research and develop a Minimum Compliance Standard for Shelters and Related Facilities in Addis Ababa City. This initiative has been put forth by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on behalf of UNHABITAT, with the aim of strengthening the city’s institutional capacity to respond to the needs of returning migrants.
The UNDP has invited interested parties to submit proposals for this project, with detailed Terms of Reference available on the UNDP Quantum/supplier portal. This specific tender, known as UNDP-ETH-00281, is being managed through a new supplier portal system that will eventually replace the current online eTendering system. Those wishing to bid on this project must subscribe to the new system, as outlined in the user guide, and register as a supplier if they have not already done so.
The development of a Minimum Compliance Standard for shelters and related facilities in Addis Ababa City is essential in order to support returning migrants and strengthen the institutional capacity of the city to meet their needs. This project will involve conducting research, formulating policies, and implementing support systems to ensure that returning migrants are properly cared for and supported upon their arrival.
This initiative comes at a crucial time, as the issue of migration and displacement has become increasingly prevalent in recent years. With the number of refugees and migrants worldwide reaching record highs, it is essential for cities like Addis Ababa to be prepared to respond effectively to the needs of those returning to their home countries. By developing a Minimum Compliance Standard and strengthening institutional capacity, Addis Ababa will be better equipped to provide vital support and services to returning migrants, helping to ensure their successful integration and reintegration into society.
