The Amhara people in Ethiopia have long faced systemic marginalization and oppression within the country’s political landscape. Dating back to the rule of the Derg regime in the 1970s, the Amhara people have been targeted and denied representation in government institutions.

The current government, led by the TPLF (Tigray People’s Liberation Front), has continued this trend of discrimination against the Amhara people. Despite making up a significant portion of the population in Ethiopia, the Amhara people have been excluded from key decision-making positions and have faced targeted violence and displacement.

The lack of representation and protection for the Amhara people has led to widespread injustices and human rights violations. From the confiscation of land to the suppression of cultural rights, the Amhara people have faced a systematic betrayal by the Ethiopian government.

It is crucial for the international community to take notice of the plight of the Amhara people and advocate for their rights and inclusion in the political landscape of Ethiopia. Until there is true justice and equality for all Ethiopians, the systematic betrayal of the Amhara people will continue to perpetuate.
