300 Family Businesses Showcase Traditional Skills and Wares at Al-Baha Summer Festival
RIYADH: The Al-Baha Summer Festival is currently hosting over 300 family businesses and artisans, who are exhibiting their traditional skills and selling a wide array of products.
Participants include craftspeople dedicated to preserving local culture and heritage. Their offerings range from traditional foods and handicrafts to weaving, embroidery, clothing, decorations, and household items. Additionally, farmers from the region are presenting and selling seasonal fruits.
Ali Al-Sawat, the mayor of Al-Baha Region and chairperson of the festival’s executive committee, informed the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that regional authorities have set up more than 40 incubators. These incubators aim to empower small and family businesses by organizing activities in both permanent and mobile marketplaces. These markets feature a diverse range of products including food, textiles, and handicrafts. Strategically located in parks and other high-traffic public areas, these outlets offer affordable fees to ensure accessibility for all vendors.
Al-Sawat emphasized that municipal authorities, especially the Public Health Department of the Services Agency, perform regular inspections to ensure that all health regulations are adhered to by the sellers.
The theme of this year’s festival, “A Summer in Al-Baha: Embrace Serenity,” has drawn a substantial number of local residents of all ages, according to event organizers. The festival commenced two weeks ago and will continue throughout the summer.
