The Kozhikode Corporation is all set to revolutionize household helps with the launch of ‘Quick Serve’, an agency that aims to provide reliable and well-trained household helpers. Under the Kudumbashree platform, Quick Serve will offer services such as baby-sitting, cooking, geriatric care, cleaning, and housekeeping.
As P. Diwakaran, Welfare Standing Committee chairman of the Corporation, mentions, the agency has already trained 30 individuals and is in the process of training 30 more. This initiative is a significant step towards empowerment and employment generation for women in the region.
‘Quick Serve’ will operate as a Kudumbashree enterprise group, equipped with an office and call center in the city. This setup will streamline the process of hiring household help, from recruiting to placing and managing salaries for the women employed through the agency. The credibility of the service is further strengthened by government backing, ensuring a reliable and trustworthy service for families looking for assistance.
While similar projects have been conceptualized in other parts of the State, Kozhikode Corporation is taking the lead in implementing Quick Serve. The approval of the project by the Corporation Council on June 12 marks a significant milestone in the journey towards providing quality household help services in the region.
Although the agency is yet to be finalized and facilities are still being set up, the project is on track to be launched by the end of July. This initiative not only meets the growing demand for reliable household help but also opens up new avenues for women’s empowerment and economic independence. With Quick Serve, the Kozhikode Corporation is setting a precedent for other local bodies to follow in the path towards efficient household help services.
