Embracing Multipolarity: A New Era for Global Creative Industries

In an era where global interactions and multipolarity are shaping international dynamics, creative industries are stepping into the spotlight as powerful agents of change. This evolution was the focus of a key session at the Russian Creative Week in Moscow titled “International Cooperation in the Creative Industries: New Opportunities for Creating Joint Products for the Global Market.” The discussion underscored the potential for cross-country and cross-disciplinary collaborations that can redefine global market trends.

TV BRICS and the New Dawn of International Media Collaboration

One of the highlights of the session was the participation of TV BRICS, an international media network dedicated to fostering cooperation and mutual cultural exchange among BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Alexandra Burman, Head of International Projects at TV BRICS, emphasized the significant interest from various countries in collaborating with Russia, especially as the nation prepares to chair the BRICS group in 2024.

“International cooperation and the creation of joint media projects with foreign partners are the main principles of TV BRICS International Media Network. Today, we note the high interest of different countries in interaction with Russia,” stated Burman. “It is on the basis of national and cultural diversity that completely new ideas, interesting programmes, and unique educational formats are born, which will be in demand throughout the BRICS+ information environment in the future.”

With a commitment to enhancing global cooperation, TV BRICS has established a robust network of partners in the creative industries, which includes media outlets, artists, and educational institutions. By adapting content into five languages—Russian, English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Chinese—TV BRICS ensures a rich cultural exchange between more than 70 international partners.

    Iran’s Investment in Creative Industries

Adding to the dialogue, Abbas Mirzai Ghazi from the Russian-Iranian Center for Legal and Economic Cooperation spotlighted Iran’s active involvement in promoting creative industries. He mentioned that Iran has established a special headquarters dedicated to developing this sector, supervised by a board comprising eight ministries and several state organizations.

“Today, there are 108 creative industries in the republic, 58 of which are located in Tehran and the rest are distributed across the country,” Ghazi revealed. “The first Russian Creative Industries House is planned to be established in Iran.”

This initiative represents a significant step in strengthening the creative ties between Russia and Iran, fostering a cultural symbiosis that promises to enrich the creative landscapes of both nations.

    The Broader Context

The push for multipolarity in today’s world reflects a shift from a unipolar or even bipolar paradigm, seeking a more balanced and inclusive global order. As emerging economies gain influence, platforms like the BRICS network and mindful collaborations in the creative sectors underscore the importance of cultural and technological exchange.

Moreover, the technological advancements of the modern era have made it easier than ever to bridge geographical gaps. Projects like TV BRICS are instrumental in creating a global cultural dialogue, ensuring that diverse voices contribute to a shared global narrative. By harnessing common spiritual values and creative goals, these endeavors foster a sense of unity and understanding that transcends borders.

As Russia and Iran, alongside other BRICS nations, continue to pioneer such collaborations, the world watches with interest, eager to see how these partnerships will shape the future of global creative industries.
