    BRICS CCI Energy Partnership Forum 2.0: A Pivotal Step Towards Global Energy Cooperation

    The BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BRICS CCI) recently convened the highly anticipated Energy Partnership Forum 2.0, a landmark event focused on fostering international collaboration and innovation in the energy sector. Esteemed diplomats, industry leaders, and government officials gathered to underscore the pivotal role of energy cooperation among BRICS nations and their global allies.

    Diplomatic Engagement and Insights

    The forum witnessed active participation from diplomatic representatives of BRICS+ nations, contributing valuable perspectives on international energy cooperation. Noteworthy speeches included those by Mr. Roman Babushkin, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Russia in India, Mr. GAO Hongshan, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of China in New Delhi, and H.E. Alberto A. Guani, Ambassador of Uruguay in New Delhi. The forum also extended heartfelt felicitations to official representatives from BRICS+ embassies and guests of honor such as Ms. Sofia Salas Monge, CDA at the Embassy of the Republic of Costa Rica, and Mr. Said Hijri, Economic Counselor at the Embassy of Morocco in India.

    Strategic Government Initiatives

    Shri Ram Nath Thakur, Hon’ble Minister of State from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, elaborated on India’s ambitious renewable energy goals. He announced a new scheme worth INR 75 billion aimed at subsidizing solar panel installations under the Rooftop Solar Yojana, also known as the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which aims to deliver 300 units of free electricity monthly to one crore households by 2030.

    Energy Security and Economic Growth

    Dr. Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Special Invitee to the National Executive of BJP and Ex-Cabinet Minister of Punjab, emphasized the crucial role of energy security in national development. He discussed the necessity of encouraging open trade for zero and low-carbon hydrogen to expedite the energy transition and meet net-zero emission targets by 2070.

    Rajesh Verma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, highlighted the importance of strategic energy partnerships among BRICS nations for achieving energy security and sustainability. Ruhail Ranjan, President of the Energy Vertical and Treasurer at BRICS CCI, welcomed the attendees by shedding light on the forum’s objectives of creating a collaborative platform for sharing insights, strategies, and innovations to drive the energy transition forward.

    Collaborative Efforts and Ethical Practices

    Sameep Shastri, Vice Chairman of BRICS CCI, emphasized the significance of unified efforts in addressing global energy challenges. He noted that the BRICS CCI aims to promote responsible business practices that support both economic growth and environmental sustainability.

    Dr. BBL Madhukar, Director General of BRICS CCI, provided a special address, asserting the Chamber’s unwavering commitment to promoting energy collaboration within BRICS. He advocated for innovative dialogue to build future energy strategies.

    Expert Panel Discussions and Keynote Addresses

    The forum featured keynote addresses from distinguished speakers such as Sh. R P Gupta, IAS (Retd.), CMD of SECI, Rajat Gupta, Executive Director of NHPC, and Mr. PM Nanda, Executive Vice President of Engineering & Projects at Greenko, who detailed various facets of energy innovation and policy.

    The event also showcased panel discussions on critical topics like Biofuel Policy, Green Hydrogen Fuel, and Renewable Energy & Energy Storage. These discussions saw contributions from notable experts including Mr. A K Saxena, Senior Director of the Electricity & Renewables Division at TERI, and Mr. Naveen Ahlawat, Head of Green Hydrogen at Jindal Steel & Power Limited.

    Felicitations and Closing Remarks

    The forum concluded with the felicitation of industry leaders including Shri Manoj Sardana, Chief Executive Officer of TUSCO, followed by valedictory remarks from Mr. Surya Jeedigunta, Convener of BRICS CCI Energy Vertical, and a vote of thanks by Ms. Ankita Sachdev, Joint Director of BRICS CCI.
