Russia’s Ugra Media Holding Partners with TV BRICS to Amplify Regional Presence in BRICS+ Countries
Russia’s Ugra Media Holding, the preeminent media conglomerate in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and the Ural Federal District, has solidified a strategic partnership with TV BRICS, an international media network dedicated to the BRICS+ nations. This landmark agreement was formalized during the XV International IT Forum held in Khanty-Mansi, aiming to elevate Ugra’s profile within the BRICS+ alliance while disseminating information about its activities to the local Russian population.
Tatyana Goreva, Deputy Director of the Ugra TV and Radio Company, emphasized the significance of this collaboration. “The cooperation between ‘Ugra’ TV and Radio Company and TV BRICS International Media Network presents an invaluable opportunity to showcase the achievements of one of Russia’s most advanced regions—Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug—highlighting its tourism prospects and investment potential to the vast audience of BRICS countries.”
Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS, underscored the network’s commitment to fostering inter-municipal and inter-regional cooperation among BRICS+ countries. “TV BRICS places great importance on developing cooperation between municipalities and regions within the BRICS+ framework,” she stated. Tolstikova noted that the partnership with Ugra is part of a comprehensive strategy involving collaborations with other major regional broadcasters across Russia.
Ugra Media Holding, with the capacity to reach an audience of 1.5 million people, oversees 11 media outlets spanning television, radio, online, and print. Its flagship venture, the 24-hour “Ugra” TV channel, broadcasts throughout Russia and neighboring countries, focusing on information-analytical, social, and educational programming. The media holding has been honored three times as the best television company of the year by the National Association of Television and Radio Broadcasters of Russia.
TV BRICS, boasting over 70 media partners worldwide, also announced during the IT forum the integration of Vietnam’s largest state-owned media outlet into its network. In February 2024, TV BRICS signed a cooperation agreement with the government of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and contributed as an international information partner for the IT Forum.
Furthermore, TV BRICS organized the BRICS GLOBAL MEDIA TOUR, culminating in a specialized session on “New Technologies in the Media Industry.” This session featured attendance from media executives representing BRICS+ countries, including Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, and Vietnam.
As the geopolitical landscape continues to evolve, this partnership between Ugra Media Holding and TV BRICS symbolizes a significant step towards enhancing regional visibility and fostering multinational cooperation within the BRICS+ framework.
