During his weekly press briefing on Monday morning, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman Nasser Kanaani addressed reports from regional media regarding the Zionist regime’s preparations for a major operation against Lebanon. Kanaani emphasized Iran’s commitment to peace, stability, and security in the region, noting that the Zionist regime poses a significant threat to these principles. He called on the international community and the United Nations to take threats from the Zionist regime against Lebanon seriously and condemned any provocative actions that could undermine Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Kanaani also urged regional countries to join in establishing an immediate ceasefire to prevent further escalation of conflict in the region.
The Spokesman further highlighted the responsibility of the US, UK, and European countries to stop supporting the Israeli regime and prevent it from continuing its aggressive actions. He emphasized the importance of maintaining stability, security, and respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, asserting that the Lebanese government and people have the right to defend themselves against any aggression. Kanaani warned the Zionist regime that the Resistance will not remain silent in the face of any hostile actions against Lebanon.
In addition, Kanaani provided updates on the preparations for the upcoming Iranian presidential snap elections for citizens residing abroad and discussed the coordination efforts for the Arbaeen March 2024 pilgrimage. He also commented on the resignations within the Zionist regime’s cabinet, interpreting them as signs of the regime’s failure. Kanaani condemned the regime’s inhumane actions in Gaza and called for immediate international intervention to halt the atrocities and establish a ceasefire.
Overall, Kanaani’s statements underscored Iran’s commitment to regional peace, stability, and security, while also emphasizing the need for international cooperation and action to address ongoing conflicts and human rights violations.
